Assessment of Technical Documentation

Under the previous EMC directive (89/336/EEC), a Technical Construction File required an independent Assessment from a Competent Body.

Under the new EMC directive (2004/108/EC), while EMC technical documentation is required for all products within the directive's scope, third-party assessment is no longer mandatory.

York EMC Services is a BIS-appointed Notified Body for the assessment of EMC Technical Documentation.

Why consider assessment?

Technical documentation must demonstrate that a product (or product family) meets the essential requirements of the EMC directive. The manufacturer is ultimately responsible for ensuring that this is the case.
